There is a long-established, specific, and honored convention among foxhunters concerning dress – correct attire for the occasion. Although the variations are generally minor, each hunt actually prescribes its own hunting attire – for the Hunt Staff, or the men and women whom the Masters have invited to wear the Hunt’s buttons and colors, for other adult members of the Field and for juniors following hounds.

Formal dress is required of everyone on Saturdays during our formal hunting season. On non-holidays and weekdays the Staff will wear formal attire, but the Field may choose to dress in ratcatcher attire – tweed coats, plain black or brown boots, tan or rust breeches. Prior to formal hunting season the Staff dresses in Tryon Hounds traditional green livery while the Field dresses in ratcatcher attire.

The following outlines proper attire for different situations. If there are further questions, please contact the Masters.
